Oakland Mills High School Fine Arts Boosters and the Oakland Mills High School Performing Arts Department are proud to present Into the Woods as our inaugural fall alumni and friends-of-the-program performance to benefit the Oakland Mills High School Fine Arts Boosters.
Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods is a twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales and explores the nature of relationships in our world. As we follow the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel - all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them - we see how children learn from their parents in ways both expected and unexpected.
Under the stage direction of alumni Jacob Hale and Jennifer Frederick, the production features OMHS performing arts alumni Caleb Lee, Jeremiah Lee, Jacob Hale, Ayana Nathan, Samantha McParland, and Laura Curran; current OMHS Assistant Principal Steven Fleming and teachers Edryn Coleman and Peter Foy; Lake Elkhorn Orchestra Director Jennifer Retterer; and friends of the program Katie Hale, Lindsay Espinosa, Kim Harris, and special guest Elaine Reid, former OMHS Administrator and performing arts supporter. This semi-staged production, complete with live orchestra, will bring you to laughter and tears. OMHS Orchestra Director Philip Hale will be music directing.
The OMHS FAB supports the performing arts at Oakland Mills High School (Band, Choir, Dance, Orchestra and Theater) through fundraising and by providing assistance during rehearsals, performances and by advocating for the performing arts at Oakland Mills High School. Come out and support the performing arts at OMHS and enjoy this fabulous performance!
